Description of Organization:
Vision: (what we will strive to become): There are a large number of children and families in the Heart of Illinois who need our program. We want to develop successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them contributing to better schools, brighter futures, and stronger communities for all.
Mission: (our purpose / reason for existing): The Heart of Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth, primarily through a professionally supported one-to-one relationship with a caring adult, and to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become responsible men and women by providing committed volunteers, national leadership and standards of excellence.

The Heart of Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters currently has positions open on their board of directors.
The Board executes its responsbilities through a committee framework and meets once monthly as a collective whole. Committiees include Fund Development, Board Development, Operation & Planning, and Finance. Annually the Board plans three primary fund raisers to support the organization: Bowl for Kids Sake, Golf for Kids Sake, and an Annual Dinner.
Currently, the HOI BBBS Board needs to grow in capacity and capability. The Board Development Committee has identified the need to diversify talents, spheres of influence in the community, and grow in volume. The current membership is highly motivated and capable and looking to grow in an effort to support the agency in reaching the 2012 goals.
